Guinea Pig Mange Mites  is a parasitic infection that is common in guinea pigs, especially when purchased at pet stores. These mites are microscopic and burrow under the skin causing severe pain. If left untreated mites can be life threatening to your guinea pig.

Warning signs include scratching, biting, and hair loss. Seizures can occur in severe cases. If you believe one of your guinea pigs has mites, treat all of them because they may be carriers and just not show be showing signs of mites.

The best course of treatment is Ivermectin. This is available in a oral, topical, or injection form. You must do 3 treatments spaced out at least 7 days apart because it does not kill the eggs.
